We use EMC Retrospect's proactive backup for laptops.  These laptops
are both on and off our Active Directory.  It was an add on to an
existing Retrospect backup server we were already running to backup up
some of our smaller Windows and unix servers.

It basically makes incrementals of the documents on the laptop when
Retrospect sees it appear on our local network.
