We have also had a variety of problems.  In most cases, it has been cause the security software conflicting with SofTest.  Trend Micro and Panda will both stop SofTest dead.  We have also seen Kaspersky cause problems a couple of times.  Sometimes the student can't start SofTest, but in some cases, the student has gotten that black screen.  In most cases I can boot into Safe Mode, and run eswinsr. 

What bothers me is that some of the students with Trend Micro swear that they ran the Mock Exam first, and it ran ok.  Then a couple of days later, they ran the real exam, and had the problems.  Either there is something different between the mock exam and a real exam (and ExamSoft swears that the two are the same), or Trend Micro came out with an update that started recognizing SofTest as a threat.
