[Drupal] Multiple Authors on a Node

Submitted by Nathan DeGruchy on Thu, 02/12/2009 - 1:13pm.

[Drupal] Multiple Authors on a Node

All,

I’m running into issues with departments needing to edit content in Drupal, but being limited to one owner per-node.  I can’t be the only one who’s run into this problem.  Would something Organic Groups be a solution here?

Thanks!

GPO's FDsys now operational

Submitted by marbux on Thu, 02/12/2009 - 1:13pm.

The Government Printing Office has flipped the "on" switch for its
next-generation digital repository for publicly accessible government
documents. The Federal Digital System (FDsys) now offers the public
access documents from all three branches of government through a
single portal .

With FDsys going live, the federal government has taken a big step
toward becoming a digital government, at least as far as the ability
to designate electronic documents as official records. Agencies and
Congress can submit their official electronic papers to FDsys with
digital certificates, allowing GPO to maintain a chain-of-custody that
can be traced back to their originators. Long-term archiving issues
have also been addressed with the new system.

...

FDsys will replace GPO's current digital document repository,
GPOAccess. The full switchover should happen by the middle of this
year. ...

It will keep all documents that agencies and Congress send to GPO to

environmental monitoring and protection of server rooms

Submitted by Norwood, Randy on Thu, 02/12/2009 - 1:13pm.

We have a server room, owned by and under the control of the
law school. We are investigating options for systems that would do continuous
environmental monitoring (power, temperature, humidity, water, smoke and room
access) of the room, and that would notify us and if needed, do a graceful
shutdown of the servers.

Recycled Toner Cartridges

Submitted by gary.p.moore on Thu, 02/12/2009 - 1:13pm.

My apologies in advance if this has been a previous thread.

We are looking to become more Green here and also cut down on some costs.  Has anyone used a reliable vendor for recycled toner cartridges.  Please let me know.  Thanks.

Sharing Access databases via the web

Submitted by Cyndi Johnson on Thu, 02/12/2009 - 1:13pm.

Short
of using Sharepoint, does anyone know of a good solution to sharing an Access db
with others (non-law school contractors) over the web? My first thought was
Google Docs but it doesn’t support Access.

Video conference bridge

Submitted by almaraz on Thu, 02/12/2009 - 1:13pm.

Hello 'noids.

I've been unable to connect with Texas Tech, either the law school or
main campus, for the first three weeks of a joint class (we have been
holding the class via Mediasite and a conference phone). When we call
them, we get either "no user responding" or it connects at zero kb with
no video. When they call us, we get a connected message but it just
continues to ring at their end. We were able to connect once in December
(thus we thought all was working fine) and once last week but at a very
low speed. Since then, we haven't been able to connect.

We have upgraded our Tandberg software to the latest version and their
site is updated as well. Today we ran a traceroute between sites. We can
get as far as Texas Tech before the signal is dropped. Texas Tech
doesn't get out of the Dallas area. Both of us can connect to other
sites including test sites.

All our troubleshooting is done by a vendor; I'm just a user/slight
techie on the system so I'm not sure where to go from here. The Texas

Laser pointer for poor and/or color-blind vision

Submitted by Damien Leri on Thu, 02/12/2009 - 1:13pm.

Hi,

One of our faculty cannot see a red laser pointer, both because of
color-blindedness and because it is so small. Has anyone found a good
pointer that addresses these?

He has not tried green pointers, so I am considering getting one of
those. But ideally we would have one with a larger circle (or that we
can bring out of focus to make the circle larger).

Thanks,

Damien

Law Library Finances Poll

Folks,
Found this little survey over on the Law Librarian Blog,
http://tinyurl.com/ahv8e8 , that I thought might be of interest to
more than a few teknoids.

Happy Monday,
Elmer.

Legal Education Commons is live

Submitted by emasters on Thu, 02/12/2009 - 1:13pm.

Folks,
We're opening up the Legal Education Commons today at
http://www.cali.org/lec as a place where legal educators (you know who
you are) can upload resources to share under a Creative Commons
Attribution-Share Alike license. You do need to have a CALI account
to upload, but anyone can find the materials. The site will accept
Word, Wordperfect, Powerpoint, Excel, PDF, OpenOffice, MP3 and more.
The only restrictions are no executables, no archives, and nothing
larger than 50 Mb (which should cover an MP3 of a lecture). There is
no limit on the total amount of space you can use.

We do have an official press release at: http://tinyurl.com/ap3lxt

Feel free to share this news far and wide because a commons is only as
good as the material contributed to it.

BTW, I'm sure I missed some cool mac file extensions, so if you need
any additional document filetypes added let me know.

Thanks,
Elmer.
