Mayer, Lazar, Devenny, Marik, Robinson, Kokosz Families Sing the 12 Days of Christmas

Submitted by jmayer on Thu, 01/15/2009 - 1:01am.

The picture does not capture the participants - unfortunately, no one took pics at this year's Christmas gathering.

Some may say this it is better that no pictures were taken if you listen to the singing in the podcast.

Just saying...

Blogging Hiatus Ends

Submitted by jmayer on Thu, 01/15/2009 - 12:43am.

I am back to blogging. I had to take some time off to recover from quintuple bypass surgery. Let this be a reminder to get your cholesterol checked - mine was over 330 last April - now it's around 150 thankyouverymuch.

I've been back to work for quite some time now (since May), but I had fallen so far behind that I just didn't know where to pick up the blog. Well, it's a new year and I know what my first blog post of 2009 must be...See the next post.

Mayer Family Sings the 12 Days of Christmas - Think of the Children!!!

Submitted by jmayer on Sun, 12/30/2007 - 4:30pm.

The Family was over to the house to celebrate Christmas yesterday. One of our many annual traditions is to sing the 12 days of Christmas with different individuals/groups handling each "number". Others are tasked to try to confuse them with alternate lyrics ... hilarity ensues.

Securexam VS Exam4

Submitted by kasra on Thu, 11/01/2007 - 7:07am.

Hello noids,

With fall exams breathing on our backs I was wondering how many of you are Securexam users who don't mind the major changes to the process of registering every user and faculty and class etc..

Saving the exams on someone else's server makes me a bit uneasy especially after all the stories floating around about the NYS Bar Exam fiasco with Software Secure product. I hear Cordoza had a melt down with the early exam on the MAC version of the securexam as well.

I am looking into Exam4 as an alternative. Any of you out there have used it? They seem to be the only other one who do support native MAC OS.

I need to make a decision by like yesterday so I do appreciate your quick fedback.

Blackboard - I don't get it - what's the big deal

Submitted by ghankstef on Tue, 10/30/2007 - 12:22pm.

When - I look at Blackboard (we have the basic version) I fail to see why this is such a mission critical tool for universities. I see a discussion forum, a place to post documents, and send email to a group. It all looks very basic. I'm not saying these tools are not needed. I just don't see how Blackboard became so dominant when it offers such basic tools that can easily be replicated in any number of open source systems quite easily.

Now I know some IT departments prefer to outsource their learning management systems to reduce pressure on staff, but the price/payoff doesn't seem to add up for me.

Enlighten me

Has any school adopted MS Office 2007 already as a replacement for Office 2003? Among those who haven't done so, is there a changeover planned? Thanks very much.
